We put Lady down today. It's been 5 months since she was diagnosed with cancer, and was having more bad days than good. Best dog in the world. Have fun casing those bunnies in the sky girlfriend.

Say hi to the new puppy. she doesn't have a name yet. We decided to get her on Saturday, but she can't come home until Friday. But we had some bad news yesterday about Lady, our 10 year old border collie mix. She has cancer in her leg, and she is too old to amputate, as she might not wake up from the knock out drug. And at her age going through chemo is more of a torture than help. We're just going to give her pain pills and spoil her for however long she lasts. It sucks that when we decide to get a new dog and are all excited about it, we find out something like this.

So I have a new laptop, and it is no longer a Vista (thank God!). I've never seen a laptop with a full keyboard before... I keep on doing typos 'cuz of it. School is almost over with for the year, and I have to make a decision on where I want to graduate from for next year if I'm eligible. Spending the past year at a community college was cheaper (I am now wishing that I did this when I got out of high school) but one cannot get a 2 year degree in Japanese/Asian Studies from one (I think). Cleveland, Akron, or back to BG...... Am very happy (insert SQUEE!) about the Snarry that keeps on coming in my friends list. Everyone is so good! I wish I could write well... Makes me want to find other IJ comms. to find for my other HP pairings. As for video games, Harvest Moon has eaten my soul again with its cuteness. I bought the new game today, played it for a few hours, and went to go buy the strategy guide. I can't keep track of where everyone goes and what they like! I thought it would just be a remake/port of "Save the Homeland!" with a few new characters and being able to marry. No, they redid the village, rearranged the events, and gave characters different likes/dislikes. And it made the game so much more difficult to keep track of, but it deepened the game at the same time. And it is, by far, the prettiest HM game to come out in recent years. Much better looking than both Wii games at least. I need to find HM icons...

3:40pm: Final Fantasy
So last week I rented the FF game for the Wii, Crystal Bearers. Don't even bother trying it, it sucks. Besides have a really awful way of throwing mandatory minigames in every five min in the story line, the game has only 3 real boss battles. Three. Bahamut, some bounty hunter who looks like a clown, and the final battle (which does have different stages to it, but only counts as one). I also really didn't like the battle system, since it used the motion stick, and that hurts the hand after a while, and was really boring and hard to use like one wants to use it. Basically you pick something up, and then you throw it. That's it. It was also insanely short and easy. It might have taken only about 12 hrs to beat it. And I suck at games. Where every other FF (and many other RPGs for that matter) game puts in a twist when the plot is almost done for one story arc, the game ends. I was surprised. I kinda was thinking, "This is it? The end?" The game might not have been so bad if it were actually finished. It was way too short, easy, and annoying. If the bloody game were longer, I might start caring about the characters (they had 2D personalities at best. FF12 had better characters, and they were my least favorite). As it is, I say don't waste your money actually buying it. If you really need to play it, rent it for a week, and you should finish it.

4:45am: Twitard
I finally broke down and watched Twilight since it was at the library and free and all. And so I could tell my teenage cousin that I did to get her to shut up. Even though it wasn't as bad as it could have been, I was still laughing at some of the cheesiness, and probably would have enjoyed it more if I had been drinking.
I think I'll leave it at that.

Most of you do not know me, or at least very well, because I am a lurker for the most part. But that does not mean that I do not read about your real life issues when you post. Many of you are going through health issues right now, and what little you all say about your struggles makes my controllable disease feel like a cold. Today is my 21st birthday, and while I will most likely be drunk by tomorrow, I will have at least one drink for your health later today when I go out. Hears to everyone's continued or better health. Cheers.

6:33pm: Heather's Summer Reading List & Plans
...which are subject to change, but oh wells. So I have officially been back at Ye Ol' Hell Pitt for a week. It is as horrible as always. But I have decided to start a list of things to do for the summer, like reading, watching, listening, etc. TNT is a lovely channel and is playing old episodes of Charmed. I bought season 1 a while ago, and am in the process of watching that, and TNT is showing season 6 ( I think) in the afternoon (Excalibur was today!) and I watched what I wanted from season 7 already on YouTube, with 8 to come. TNT also plays old Bones and USA plays old House so I have lots to catch up on TV wise. I ordered Dr. Horrible, since I've only seen parts of it, as well as Firefly from the library. Once I watch those I'll order Serenity too. They're both by the creator of Buffy and I've heard good thongs about them. Libraries are nice when one is broke. Tamora Pierce has come out with a new Tortall book that I have ordered from the library cuz I don't have money right now. I plan on buying it anyways, but still... I also have yet to read The Will of the Empress even though it came out in '05, so I might order the book-on-tape version of it. I saw that Full Cast Audio has been producing the Immortals Series of hers, so I might library order that too. I love Tammy Pierce. I also really like Howl's Moving Castle, book version, which has a companion book and a sequel that I own but haven't finished either. I forget everything that is different from book and Miyazaki versions, but don't feel like re-reading, so I might order the audio version of the book of that as well. Then depending on what I feel like I will read or order the audio versions of the next two books in that universe. I realized yesterday that it has almost been ten years since I discovered Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider of Pern series/universe. And with her son coming out with new stories, I have decided that I should re-read the books over the summer. But then I thought that I really don't want to carry them around and actually read them. And then I thought about how I never listened to any of the book-on-tape (or CD) versions of them. So instead of rereading them, I have ordered the CD version of the first book she came out with in the series and will listen to the books in published order if I can. So that is my CD/book and TV plans. I haven't thought about what games to play for the summer, or what anime to order from the library. I do know that I plan on going to Akron Public Library on June 3rd for Lauren Myrtle, Womping Willows, and Justin (enter name I can't spell)'s tour stop. Yay to Potter Rockers.

2:58pm: APARTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So today I went to Shamrock Apartments and looked at the studio ones. I was surprised at how nice they were, better than the dorm rooms (Shamrock is right by the Bob Evans by the highway. I was expecting the inside to be a dump). So I filled out the admissions paper, and after they go through that I pay the security deposit and rent papers, and I will have an apartment come August. But the owner is who I talked to, and he said they would hold one for me, so I don't have to worry about not being accepted! So I kinda have an unofficial apartment. OH YEAH! I found it fitting that I got an apartment in Shamrock on St. Patty's Day. In game news, my brother bought a Wii, so I'm trying to beat Tales of Symphonia so we can get the sequel. I am at the point where Collette just lost her voice. This game is really good, I kinda wish Nintendo would do more RPG games like this.

So, I'm in the crappy computer lab writing a paper. A creative paper. A story. And it sucks. I have not written any kind of story since middle school. I am not a creative person, but this is easier because I have guidelines: we need to write a sequel or re-write a scene to one of the short stories we read in my Japanese Lit. class. Need to keep character in character, write in 1st person, keep an eye on time period and customs, and come up with a believable story with an appropriate title. is Very hard. New found respect for people who write fiction and not essays.

I got this from my college friend on lj, talon_kitty, who in turn got it from our friend Kat. enjoy. HELL EXPLAINED BY CHEMISTRY STUDENT The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid term. The answer by one student was so 'profound' that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well : Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.' THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN A+.

5:30am: health update, and go USA!
well last week has been crazy. On Monday I went for a CAT scan, and got results back on Wed. Celebrate that I don't have a tumor. That night I went to bed with my worse headache since I was diagnosed with swelled optic nerves. Not kidding, I wanted to puke that's how bad my head hurt. Next day I went through my second round of testing by getting a lumbar puncture so they could get samples of my spinal fluid to test. I was not aware that I would have to go put on hospital clothes, have surgery, and stay in recovery room for 2.5 hrs. Then I was told I would most likely have more headaches for about the weekend, only these would be spinal caused ones, and the only way to make them go away was to lay down. That's all well and good for weekend rest except that I work at Wendy's during the summer as a closer, and there is no such thing as a weekend except we are not as busy during the day. I ended up calling off on Friday (the new head manager is a moron and didn't tell the closing one this causing much drama I was told, but not blamed for) but went in for the last two days with head and back pain. Also found out that whoever was doing the schedule decided that since it was my last week, I should work four 8hr and one 5hr shifts. Only they are all in a row, and they never seem to remember that, "Hey, we work the week before too!" and now I get to work 7 days in a row (which would have been 8 if I hadn't called off on Friday). And they know I am having health issues that I need to sort out before I go to school 2 hrs away from the hospital I am being treated at. Fucking Morons. I'm going to call the neurologist later if I can find the number and see if they found anything yet and make my follow up appointment. Maybe I should see if they can transfer me to the Wood County Hospital, where I could walk to or get BGSU's ride program to take me. I have also been watching Olympics. Go USA, and yay for the swimmer Michal Phelps!

ok so I do have some swelling of my eye nerves and have to see a neurologist to see if it is not a pseudo tumor (which they think it is), and if they are right about it being that, I get to have some drugs and have a watch on fluid in my brain. or something like that. I go see the neurologist next thurs. and get to go back to the eye place tomorrow for a sight field test. I also have to remember to call my primary doc tomorrow (her office is closed today) and tell her whats up and see if she wants me to come in. why does this all happen right before school starts? ps forgit my typos, my eyes are still dilated.

So today I went to WallMart for an eye exam cuz I've been having headaches and have had my glasses for almost two years now. Within those two years, the nice older fat black doctor has been replaced with a young thin white guy. The new doc was nice and all, but I prefer the old one for one thing: he didn't tell me I had to go get a 2nd opinion on if I have a pseudo tumor. kinda nervous now, but I called my aunt who works as a secretary at the hospital in one of the optometrist's offices and she told me to call her tomorrow at work and she'd get me in by the end of the week. Hopefully nothing is really wrong, but if it is, I'll get better care there than anywhere else. After that dismal news I went to the Medina County Fair. Got me some fair lemonade, apple dumplings, and watched the horse show.

"Do you good to toughen up your rear," Ron told him cheerfully. -Mad Martha, "Coming Home" ch 6 in other news, I have yet to start my 8-10 page paper for Asian Popular Music. I have a few ideas of what I want to do with it, but as of now i don't know how to tie them all together. I want to have the first page done by my morning class tomorrow/today. I have time to work on it still, it's due on Thursday, but I have no motivation to work on it.
